Mayweather vs Logan Paul Fight: Floyd Mayweather Jr., the retired former pound-for-pound boxing champion, will return to the ring on a new date June 6 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, for an exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul.
It’s a boxing match that no one called for, yet will take place. And there will undoubtedly be a lot of eyes on this game, as the unbeaten 44-year-old will lose six inches in height and a significant amount of bulk to his 26-year-old rival, who is 0-1 in professional boxing matches.
The long-awaited boxing match was supposed to take place on February 20, but it was postponed indefinitely. As more information about the show becomes available, it has been rescheduled for June.
Mayweather last fought in a boxing ring on New Year’s Eve 2018, when he won an exhibition fight against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa by TKO in the first round. In 2017, he last fought professionally, stopping MMA superstar Conor McGregor in the 10th round to improve to 50-0. In June, his rival would have the least amount of boxing experience of any of his former rivals.
Paul is a huge star who rose to prominence thanks to his YouTube videos, but he has no prior boxing experience. He’s only had one professional fight and one exhibition, both against fellow YouTuber KSI, with the 2018 exhibition ending in a majority draw and KSI winning the rematch by a six-round split decision in November 2019.
This fight is clearly less about being aggressive than it is about being an entertaining way for both Paul and Mayweather to make money.
Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson is also on the card, and he’ll likely face another former athlete or star.
